The Audi R8 Spyder is not to be taken lightly. As it hits North America this summer of 2010; It will have a range of amenities to be reckoned with. With a choice of two different variations of engines coupled with eleven different paint schemes and six different interior color choices. It’s enough send you’re the average person in to a state of confusion. The R8 Spyder will still be available with the 4.2L V8 but this year it will have that long awaited 5.2L V-10 that we all love. The 5.2L V-10 (borrowed from the Gallardo) will have 525hp and 390ft-lbs of torque at the tap.
Getting up to 60 in just 4.1sec and on to a top speed of 194m.p.h. Due to heavy duty roll bars and reinforcements that Audi has done to the body it’s a bit slower than the coupe as the Spyder weighs 220lbs. more than the hardtop. The option of the carbon fiber sideblades has been tossed in favor of duo scoops ahead of the rear wheels. Aesthetically the Spyder’s windshield frame has been treated with the brushed aluminum for that shiny focal point.

Though you may find some changes have been done to the Spyder, the biggest change besides cutting the roof off is the rear. It has been changed a slight bit to incorporate the convertible and the aerodynamics of not have the rigidity of a hard top.
Having a electro-hydraulic soft top roof that only takes 19secs to open can come in handy at any stoplight, if you just wanna enjoy that beautiful sunshine or close it up in a hurry before that big storm hits.
Price for the R8 Spyder still has not been set in stone but it will have a heavy dealer mark up- and the waiting list for one might take up to 6 months of waiting to get your hands on some keys. It should be around $114,000- $146,000 for a fully option’d out R8 Spyder. Let’s just hope the R8 Spyder is prettier in person then in the glamour shots that Audi sent us, but gosh it sure is a gorgeous car.
